Descrizione | A specialized collection of actual and partly fossil mollusc shells |
Descrizione di dettaglio | The collection "Settepassi" consists of about 250000 actual and partly fossil (from Pliocene to Pleistocene) mollusc shells from Gastropoda to Scaphopoda, collected during the twentieth century (mainly during 30s and the 60s) essentially in the Southern Hemisphere. The collection includes many remains of lesser importance but also of relief material (including types) of the Mediterranean marine and terrestrial species, mostly from French-speaking correspondents such as Paul Pallary and Philippe Dautzenberg, and Italians, like Bellini, Del Prete and Monterosato. The collection of Piersanti, consisting primarily of land shells, also historically deposited in the Museum, has been fully incorporated into Settepassi collection. They are exposed in about 400 drawers collected in 24 chests plus 13 messy boxes, but the status of the conservation shows some problems, either for the physical curation or for potential information loss (for example unlabeled specimens in the collection) |

Provenienza | Settepassi gave, still alive, his collection to the Museo Civico di Zoologia di Roma during the 50s of the twentieth century and served as a volunteer "curator of fact" in Section Malacology, until his death |

| Level 1 |
Conservation problem, either one of physical curation or one of potential information loss - for example unlabeled specimens in the general collection. |
| Level 3 |
Unidentified material, sorted to "Loanable units" (usually genus, but variable depending on group) and accessible to the research community. For most groups of Diptera, this was material sorted to family level. |
